Shri Prakhar Singh is a 2020-batch Madhya Pradesh cadre Indian Administrative Service officer whose career spans revenue administration, tribal development and urban governance. Born on July 2, 1994, and hailing from Damoh in Madhya Pradesh, he joined the IAS on October 12, 2020. He is presently serving as Additional Commissioner, Indore Municipal Corporation, with charge of the Swachh Bharat Mission and Building Permit Branch.
Early Life and Academic Pursuits
Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Shri Singh entered the Indian Administrative Service with a sound academic foundation and a strong orientation towards public service. Beginning his administrative career at a relatively young age, he gained early exposure to district governance, revenue administration and citizen-facing responsibilities, laying a solid foundation for his later roles across rural, tribal and urban administration.
Professional Genesis and Ascendancy
Shri Singh began as Assistant Collector, Burhanpur, before serving as SDO (Revenue), Dabra and later SDO, Rajnagar in Chhatarpur district. In September 2024, he became CEO, Zila Panchayat, Alirajpur, and in January 2026 moved to Indore Municipal Corporation as Additional Commissioner.
Administrative Tenure: From Tribal Development to Urban Governance
Shri Singh’s assignments have taken him from revenue administration and a predominantly tribal district to the governance of Madhya Pradesh’s largest city. This progression has exposed him to distinctly different challenges—from last-mile development and village infrastructure to sanitation, building regulation and metropolitan compliance.
Aspirational Block Development
As CEO, Zila Panchayat, Alirajpur, Shri Singh was associated with implementation of the Sampoornata Abhiyan in Katthiwada, focusing on saturation of key development indicators. The block’s performance later earned Shri Singh and the district team a commendation certificate from Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Rural Infrastructure and Field Monitoring
His Alirajpur tenure also reflected a field-oriented approach to project monitoring. At Badi Khattali Gram Panchayat, he inspected works including an Anganwadi building, community infrastructure and a major retaining-wall project, directing officials to ensure timely completion of priority works.
Building Regulation and Public Safety
In Indore, Shri Singh’s Building Permit Branch scrutinised 300 online permissions after irregularities were detected in the automated approval system. The exercise led to notices to 47 property owners and consultants and later action against professionals involved in improper approvals, strengthening regulatory oversight of urban construction.
Swachh Bharat and Citizen Participation
As Additional Commissioner responsible for the Swachh Bharat Mission, Shri Singh has been associated with Indore’s preparations for Swachh Survekshan 2026, particularly citizen participation. Indore also partnered with Depalpur through the Swachh Sheher Jodi initiative to extend its sanitation practices to a smaller neighbouring urban body.
Other Notable Achievements
- Sampoornata Abhiyan Recognition: Received a commendation certificate with the Alirajpur team for Katthiwada’s performance under the Aspirational Blocks framework.
- Environmental Compliance Responsibility: As SDM Rajnagar, Shri Singh served on a National Green Tribunal-linked joint committee examining environmental compliance relating to a stone-crusher matter in Chhatarpur district.
A Visionary Outlook
Shri Prakhar Singh’s career reflects the ability to adapt administrative experience to very different development settings. His transition from tribal and panchayat administration to sanitation and building regulation in Indore demonstrates a growing focus on responsive service delivery, institutional accountability and effective field implementation.
Why is he one of the ‘Stars of MP’?
Shri Prakhar Singh stands out for successfully navigating two contrasting governance environments—grassroots tribal development and metropolitan administration. His work connects last-mile programme delivery in Alirajpur with stronger civic regulation and sanitation management in Indore.
This breadth of field experience, combined with a practical emphasis on implementation and accountability, gives Shri Prakhar Singh a distinctive place among the ‘Stars of MP’.
