His hard work paid off in 2008 when he cracked the exam with an All India Rank (AIR) of 76, transitioning from checking tickets to leading districts as an IAS officer.

His focus on “zero-carbon” construction and the use of the Road Asset Management System (RAMS) has set a national benchmark for sustainable infrastructure.
- Secretary to the Chief Minister: His tenure in the CM’s Secretariat highlighted his role as a trusted administrative strategist, where he ensured the effective implementation of key state policies.
- Commissioner, Urban Administration: He played a pivotal role in the success of flagship schemes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and PM Awas Yojana, helping Madhya Pradesh maintain its lead in urban cleanliness and housing.
- The “Pathshala” Experiment in Jabalpur: As Collector Jabalpur, he gained widespread appreciation for his personal visits to rural schools. He would often teach students himself and interact directly with them to identify gaps in the education system, significantly improving district board results.
